Snowboard Magazine Names Forum’s Shaka Binding a Platinum Pick!
BURLINGTON, VT (June 23, 2009) – After testing the best hardgoods from across the industry for the last several months, Snowboard Magazine is awarding Forum’s brand new Shaka Binding an “Excellence In Design” Platinum Pick for 2010. "Getting every bit of flex and action you pay for out of a board is critical these days,” says Snowboard Magazine’s Mike Basher. “The Shaka's hinged disc allows for a smooth, uninterrupted board flex.”
“We’re pumped that Snowboard Magazine’s on-snow testers had fun riding our bindings,” states Forum Brand Manager David Friend. “We’ve put a lot of energy into our binding program and it’s rad to hear that riders like what we’ve done.”
Built to work with any 4-hole pattern board on the market, the split base of the Shaka works in conjunction with Forum’s entirely new Good Vibes Hinge Disc allowing for not only a more natural board flex, but also the added value of more control with Continuous Rocker boards. In addition, a full-length EVA and fGel footpad provides the ultimate in dampening and cush comfort when the occasional flat landing occurs. Whether slashing the lip or destroying the park, there’s no need for a new board to get a new sensation.

Bumped into an old friend
Our main man Don Brown bumped into éS alumni, Tom Penny, in Europe a few weeks ago and sent these photos over. Which actually reminded me I was sitting on a near-seven minute clip of Tom skating around being his usual self. I can't claim that this footy is entirely "unseen" but it was new to me, so it may be to many of you as well. We all know Penny footy is good footy, so enjoy. Go to:

Kansas City/ Etnies Go Skateboarding Day/ Malto
KANSAS CITY, KS – Today the etnies Team went to Kansas City to celebrate Go Skateboarding Day, and while skateboarding’s number one holiday is almost over for another year there is no reason to sweat it – just go skateboarding again tomorrow! Kansas City’s own Sean Malto and fellow etnies team riders Mikey Taylor, Kyle Leeper, Jose Rojo, Devine Calloway and Davis Torgerson headed to the Penn Valley Skatepark in K.C. to host a benefit event to raise money to purchase lights for the skatepark. During the day more than 600 skateboarders came to the park with the first group showing up before 7 a.m. and there were locals still skating the park until dark.

ETNIES RVL THUNDER COLLAB
From Jim Thiebaud…
“This shoe, what it stands for, and how it came about is a perfect example of the effect Johnny Romano had, and will forever have, on skateboarding.
Johnny was a 10-year-old skater form Galveston, Texas whose love of skateboarding and courageous perseverance through his battle with Leukemia captured the hearts of the entire skateboard community worldwide. He never wanted to be known as ‘Johnny, the skater with Leukemia.’ He was simply Johnny the skater and we all followed his journey with our hearts on our collective sleeves.
A few months after Johnny lost his battle with Leukemia, Sean Malto and Mikey Taylor approached me with an idea to do something with Thunder and etnies to pay tribute to Johnny, as well as raise money and awareness for the JOHNNYKICKSCANCER Foundation that the Romano family founded. The result was the etnies / Thunder RVL as well as a matching colorway Thunder truck.
Johnny may have lost his battle, but he won the war. His memory and his impact on all of us in skateboarding will live forever. Thank you to everyone who was there for the journey and thank you to everyone who keeps it going.
This one's for you Johnny. We miss the fuck out of you.”

MORE MURPHY!
BACK TO THE BANKS 2009
Back to the Banks went down for the fifth time on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at venerated skate spot the Brooklyn Banks. As usual, there was a lot of skateboarding, chaos and kids, with what seemed like more than 2000 skaters in attendance. A total of $10,000 cash was given out for five different awards: Willy Akers took $2000 for each of the Bank to Wall and Bank to Ledge sections. David Gonzales took home $2000 for the Bump to Spine ledge. Floridian Chris Blake earned his cash for a switch front blunt down the Rail. And second placer Timmy Knuth deserves a mention for his perfect kickflip nosegrind down the Rail. It was amazing. And although he didn’t win any one of the sections, Emerica’s own Collin Provost grabbed the last $2000 for the Overall ripper award. He killed it all day, logging tricks on every obstacle. View more photos and video over at TransWorld Skateboarding.
Congrats go out to Collin Provost!

BURLINGTON, VT (April 16, 2009) – Every year SIA’s SnowPress Show Daily honors the snowsports industry’s best innovations for the upcoming season. For 2010, Forum’s all-new Shaka Binding receives top recognition in the category of Skill. “The SIA SnowPress Innovation Awards honor the equipment that our editorial team feels will have the greatest impact on the future of snowsports,” says Peter Kray, Editorial Director of the SnowPress Show Daily. Forum Director of Bindings Chris Cunningham states, “We’re super pumped that SIA recognizes the Shaka as the future of snowboard bindings. We have really unlocked the board’s flex with the Shaka, now making any 4×4 deck even more fun to ride.”Built to work with any 4-hole pattern board on the market, the split base of the Shaka works in conjunction with Forum’s entirely new Hinge Disc allowing for not only a more natural board flex, but also the added value of more control to the reverse camber board.
